His lifelong passion for nature developed as a boy and early on he entertained the idea of becoming a natural history illustrator. At 15 however he joined a Melbourne advertising agency and at night attended classes at Swinburne Technical College. The agency job ended with the outbreak of war and Crooke went on to study art full time at Swinburne before enlisting in the army. His service years saw him in Western Australia, North Queensland, Borneo and Thursday Island, places that would feature dramatically in his later work. After the war Crooke completed his art studies at Swinburne and held his first solo exhibition in 1948 at Melbourne’s Kosminsky Gallery.

For all fine art purchases, free collection is available from our Gallery in Seaforth. For Art of Dr. Seuss purchases, free collection is available from QVB (Sydney) or The Block (Melbourne).

All online orders will be processed within 48 hours (business days), unless the artwork is a part of a current exhibition or is an Art of Dr. Seuss purchase.Â
Exhibition artwork will be shipped once the exhibition closes and for an Art of Dr. Seuss purchase, please allow 14 – 16 weeks for delivery from date of purchase.Â
The average time for dispatch for all other artworks is approximately 5 business days, depending on availability and payment arrangements.
Delivery will take between 5 – 10 business days Australia wide.
