Sandra Ken is a Pitjantjatjara artist based in Amata, where she lives with her husband Dick and their four children. Her artistic journey began at the Tjurma Homelands Arts and Craft Centre, where she developed her skills through working and learning in the craft room. Her practice continued to grow with the establishment of Minymaku Arts, where she further explored painting and storytelling through contemporary Aboriginal art.

Sandra paints the Country connected to her family heritage, with her mother’s Country at Aron and her father’s Country at Amata providing the foundation for her work. Her paintings reflect the deep cultural connections, stories and landscapes passed down through generations.

Sandra is also a member of the celebrated Ken Sisters Collaborative, alongside Tjungkara Ken, Yaritji Young, Freda Brady and Maringka Tunkin. Together, the group was awarded the prestigious Wynne Prize in 2016, recognising their contribution to contemporary Australian landscape painting and their powerful interpretations of Country.
