Ana is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice includes painting and sculpture. In the absence of figuration, Ana’s art allows us to share her landscape world of shifting spaces and shadows between sky and water, land formations, pathways, rocks and plants. … Continue reading

ARTIST STATEMENT
I will muse on the layers of color and their relations and distinctions in this series of works. The “flow” of material makes my interaction with it a coincidence, which is uncontrollable and changeable. It meets my expectations to some extent, seems to be some sort of relationship between stillness and quiet. I like this kind of early experience within my scope… Yan Hongchi

ARTIST STATEMENT
‘Freedom is limited under the rules. It is human nature to break away from restrictions and gain freedom.
It is a landscape of restriction and freedom.
The lines, the warp and weft, are the rules. The key is how to break the rule and get freedom. These beautiful latitude and longitude lines, just like the art of society. It seems to be perfect, but they are lifeless. Breaking the routine are the core values of the works. Each of works is a process of breaking. The process is a kind of confrontation and struggle between freedom and rules, as well as fight between sensibility and rationality. Frame and color limit the element and consciousness.
We can find a good way to keep everything going well between freedom and rules’… Dai Dandan

ARTIST STATEMENT
“My recent works mostly use Xuan paper to present a visual possibility of Xuan paper as an art material. The content of this work attempts to challenge various relationships between individuals and society, to indicate the corresponding multi-level complexity of the social and the individual, and the continual motivations. I attempt to reveal the activeness of individuals hidden behind “group unconsciousness” … Gao Zhenpeng

ARTIST STATEMENT
Because of Xie Kun’s smartness, the material world collapses and its image cracks. She was addicted to depicting the world she had discovered—both magical and real, using simple strokes or objects. The links of the vines lead the viewers’ perceptions, expelling them from the real time and space, and showing them a different kind of existence. — Liu Libin (Professor, Central Academy of Fine Arts)
The reason why Xie Kun’s work was selected is that she cleverly presented a kind of tension in the image. This tension comes from the combination of art brut in her works and the inspiration of the Western style. At the same time, her originality of using different materials also gives her work an unpredictable flexibility. — Laguna Jury

Artist Statement
“The theme is from a Chinese novel “Journey to the West”, which shows the story of the true and false Monkey King. It is discussing the truth and false. It is not only a representation of reality, but also art and audience.
The main part of the work is made of glass, ceramics, ink, motors and materials. The light makes the magical and stage effect. The shadow attracts viewers to explore the entire stage.

Harvey Galleries was founded by the Harvey family in 1994 with an eye to establish a dynamic and inclusive contemporary art space on the North Shore of Sydney. For almost three decades we have expanded our reach to over three gallery locations and an ever expanding stable of the best artists Australia has to offer.
Harvey Galleries acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which our galleries stand. The Guringai people (Seaforth), the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation (Sydney), and the Bunurong Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin Nation (Melbourne).
We pay our respect to Elders past and present.
