For many years these have been favourite subjects for Ken. Of special note are three beach paintings that focus on the study of the landscape. These paintings are comprised of detailed figures representing the patterning and playfulness of a day at the beach.”

These paintings are comprised of detailed figures representing the patterning and playfulness of a day at the beach.
The canvas, 3 palm reef, 2023 is an interesting juxtaposition of both land and sea using a vibrant citrine, not usually associated with the colour of water.
Ken has adhered, in most instances, to his preferred palette. His iconic combination of cadmium and ultramarine and lavish brushstrokes identify these wonderful paintings as those of Ken Done.”
